The reasons behind this are multifold, but the simplest is that the ground game in Ferguson/St. Louis has not functioned properly. Please check out this article that explores some of the dynamics that have adversely impacted the Ferguson response. In regards to recall specifically, various competing movements surfaced during the past month that have not panned out. Attempts at coordination and collaboration have failed. Some have claimed to have started a formal recall process, but little has been made public about their progress or status thus far.
It is time to re-organize and re-focus. It is time for those of us who truly care about tangible change to sift through the white noise and connect. THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION.
If there are any Ferguson/St. Louis locals who are interested in assisting with a #Recall4Mike in any capacity are encouraged to contact us at [email protected] or to contact one of the following coordinators via Twitter: @Octavia_J83 or @Ricky_Raw. In particular, we are looking for individuals with legal expertise (for drafting the petition document), aspirations for political office (Ferguson residents) and to collect signatures.
You are also encouraged to get involved with a newly developing non-profit organization called Melanoid Nation Foundation. You can join their Facebook group here. This organization will assist with efforts toward securing justice in Ferguson and many other areas across the nation by responsibly fundraising, educating black youths, supporting scholarship and business development programs, and even funding/developing cutting-edge technology that can protect targets of discrimination and police brutality.
It is time to get serious. Reach out to us and let's get this done.
